How we do it
Our process starts with the prep
A ceramic coating seals in whatever is underneath it, so if the preparation is wrong, the problem is locked in for years. That is why most of the day is spent on the four preparation steps before the ceramic coating is applied.
Decontamination
Rail dust, brake dust and tree sap bond into the clear coat and will not wash off. We remove them with an iron remover and a clay bar, because anything left behind stays sealed under the ceramic coating.
Paint correction
Machine polishing removes the swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation that dull the finish, and brings back the depth and clarity the paint had from the factory. The number of stages depends on your package.
Panel prep
Polishing leaves a thin layer of oils on the surface that would stop the ceramic coating from bonding properly. Every panel is wiped down with an alcohol-based solution so the coating bonds to bare paint.
Coating and cure
The IGL ceramic coating is applied one panel at a time and levelled by hand for an even finish. It then cures indoors in our climate-controlled shop, where steady temperature and airflow allow it to reach full hardness.

How long does the car stay with you?
Five hours for Shield, eight for Debut, ten for Signature and thirteen for Elite. Most of that is correction work, not the coating itself. We will tell you when you book whether it is a same day job or an overnight.
Will it stop scratches?
It helps with light marring from washing. It will not stop a key, a shopping trolley or a stone chip. Anyone telling you a coating makes paint scratch proof is selling you something.
Why can't you do it at my house?
Coatings need controlled light to check the correction, clean air while curing, and a steady temperature. A driveway gives you none of those. Detailing we can bring to you. Coatings stay at the shop.
What happens if the coating stops performing?
Tell us and we will look at it. On Signature, Elite and Debut the warranty stays active while you are on the maintenance membership, which is how we catch problems before you notice them.
Do I still need to wash the car?
Yes. The coating makes washing quicker, it does not replace it. Leave a car dirty long enough and contaminants sit on top of the coating and stop it working the way it should.
Can you coat a car with damaged paint?
Yes, but we correct it first. That is what the correction stages in each package are for. If the paint needs more work than the package covers, we will tell you before you book, not after.
Which package should I get?
Shield is the right choice for a daily driver or a first ceramic coating. Signature is what most owners pick when they want the finish to last and look its best for several years. Elite is for anyone who wants every surface of the vehicle covered. Debut only applies if the car is still factory fresh and has never been washed or driven in the rain.
Is a coating worth it on an older car?
It depends on the condition of the paint. If the clear coat is peeling or failing, a ceramic coating will not repair it, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking. If the paint is sound but has lost its depth over the years, a paint correction followed by a ceramic coating makes a remarkable difference.
